Richard Rust as Dobie

As a Rust Fan, I enjoy his performance in Comanche Station, and wish he'd done other films with Scott. He was very good in westerns, probably because he was comfortable with horses. He's also very good at dying in film. My first Rust collection item was an 8x10 of Rust being shot off his horse (by Akins) and seriously, his body is pure poetry. Rust is not only a great actor, even at that young age, he has a superb voice. I look forward to getting home early to watch this movie again, even though I own it. When he wants to say that he's going to miss his friend who was killed, but stops in embarassment, I get tears in my eyes. Rust obviously took direction well and in this scene, GOT what Boetticher wanted, with his own touch of perfection.

They have that wrong in the credit list here. Anyway, isn't that part like pre-Brokeback Mountain in a way? He and Frank, I mean?

Ah.... I just saw this after I posted my response, even though I think I confused myself! LOL!

So there is a mixup though? Skip Homeier was Frank, NOT Dobie, and Rust was Dobie?

Correct?

Yes, I submitted it to the imdb, I just never noticed before! I recently fixed the Hitchcock credit, they had him as Teen #3, he's the Detective who drives the car into the lot, Charlie. Did you watch the movie yesterday? I think Rust is really good in that movie, but then, I like him in anything!

Funny you should mention Rust, particularly about his role as Dobie.

I could have sworn that there was a mixup between the names of his role and Skip Homeier's.

I thought the character "Dobie" was Skip, not Rust. In other words, the person they credit as being Rust, looks to me more like Skip Homeier. I know the appearances are similar, but going by Homeier's role in the classic "The Gunfighter", "Dobie" in Comanche Station looks more like Skip.

Am I making sense here?

When Ben shoots Dobie, kinda heart-wrenching because, Dobie wants to change and go with Jefferson and Mrs. Lowe.

Can you fly this plane?
Surely u cant be serious
I am serious, and dont call me Shirley

reply

Yes, and that's the thing, Rust really portrays the character so well, you can feel everything Dobie is feeling!
