I can't find anywhere that it says it was rated X, except for this ad. Does anyone know? I can't imagine the 3 minutes of Satan curse making it X.

Wasn't everything back in the day? Today, I'd say it's a PG.

It was rated X in the UK but mostly all horror films were back then. When it opened here in the US the rating system hadn't been introduced so it just played to anyone. It now has an official PG-13 rating (probably for the ending).
