Is Glenn Ford Good?

For some reason I have never taken to Glenn Ford, and I really can't put my finger on why he is not my cup of tea.

I guess it is because I find his mild style of understated performance is just toomild and too understated.

Other excellent actors either have an overt excitement, enthusiasm, energy, charisma, humour, badness or goodness. Or they have such traits simmering just below the surface. I struggle to find these things in Glenn.

I'd love to hear views to the contrary and suggestions of his best roles so I can hopefully find greater insight into what made him one of the greats of the silver screen.

Actors don't have careers like his unless they have a lot going for them.
