Brit Humor....

Having never heard or seen these 'Carry On', comedies I found the Brit humor mostly humorous and kept wondering how much humor evolves over time and inspires others- i.e. Monty Python for example. In my youth I didn't get much of the Monty Python type humor and now find much of it hilarious.

Most of the humor is enhanced by the physical traits of the cast as many just have those funny facial characteristics.

I remember when they came out but didn't see any till they were shown on TV. Now I own about fifteen and they are great -- until they became tasteless later on. If you get a chance see "cor Blimey" which is a Brit movie based on the life and romance of James and Windsor.

Monty Pythom evovled from Spike Milligan and The Goon Show whith eveolved from It's that man again.

"That man" being Hilter.

There was always an undercurrent of antiestablishment in post war comedies.

Passport to Pimlico

The Lavender Hill Mob.

Norman Wisdom's litte man roles.

Most of the early Carry on films parody big institutions.

National Service
Hospitals
Schools
Police Force

Later on they parodied other film genres.

I see similarities between the Carry on and Monty Python roles of

Kenneth Williams - Graham Chapman

Charles Haughtry - Micheal Palin

Kenneth Connor - Terry Jones

Sid James - Eric Idle

John Cleese is more like Tony Hancock.

Essentially a lot of British humour from the post war period is about a clash of class or class pretensions.
