How did they get this scene past the censor?

I am talking about the scene when they haul the dead girl's body into the canoe. If you watch it you will see what I mean. I am sure that in 1959 some teenage boys sat through the whole flick a second time just to see those 3 seconds of footage again!

If you're thinking of the shot just beforehand, where she's rising up in the water - surprisingly creepy and downbeat for such a film - I'm fairly certain she's wearing knickers. Having said that, in subsequent scenes it is apparent that the water was cold! If you see what I mean.

Yes, I am talking about the wet t-shirt effect. I sort of doubt it was an accident. Like Faye Wray on the ship in King Kong.

There was also a Tarzan movie in 1934 that had a pretty revealing skinny dipping scene. It is on You Tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Bc7KDyLV80 . To this day I don't know how they got it past the censor.

That's because censorship didn't get to be really bad until 1934. After that, nudity was only allowed if it was authentic National Geographic style documentation of other cultures. I'm pretty sure the opening of the next Tarzan movie was a middle finger to the censors because they opened up with some naked Africans.
