awful film,don't waste your time.

As someone who can watch almost any war movie I saw down to watch this today thinking I had somehow never seen it before.
But I had seen it before, the reson I had forgotten it was that it was a bad film.
Everything about this film is bad,the acting, the script, the sets, the music, everyhing is cheap and shoddy.

Alan Ladd was about 45 I think when he made this,he is playing a private who looks about 60 years old.

It is a film set during the Korean War but it is unexciting and uninvolving.

Has there ever been a really good Korean war film?

I recall liking THE HUNTERS and BRIDGES AT TOKO RI but perhaps this was because of the beautiful old jets rather than the whole films?

Yes, two Pork Chop Hill and The Steel Helmet

I didn't like "The Steel Helmet". "Pork Chop Hill" is pretty good.

Men in War is pretty good.

I've only seen the first half-hour of the film so far and dread sitting through the rest. I'm re-doing all the scenes in my head as I watch it. It seems like it may have been an okay film if the director got someone else to direct the story he wrote.

Mag, Darling, you're being a bore.

Ladd's character was supposed to have been a senior SGT that had been busted down to private for bad behavior - a common practice in the military of old.

My heartburn is with one of the Marines being listed as a "medic." There's two things wrong with that. The Marine Corps does not have trained medical personnel. "Medics" are provided to Marine combat units by the US Navy and these medical personnel are called Corpsmen not Medics (Medics are Army). Also a Corpsman's equivalent naval rank would be higher than a Marine private - a chief petty officer, either third or second class.
