The Grim Reaper. Robert Bloch pulled the rug out from under me not once but twice.
shareHimself,--looking aged and hideous. The message, such as it can be interpreted, appears to be that Townes was a pitiful failure as a man, and also that he asked some wrong questions. It wasn't the most shocking thing on television at the time, but the way it was used made it maybe the biggest shocker of the Thriller series. For me, it's the defining episode of the entire series (not sure I'd call it the best, but maybe the best "signature".

Definitely Robert Bloch's THE DEVIL'S TICKET. That final twist really shook me up.
And, with so many celebrities today, bragging of how they sold their souls for Fame and Fortune, this is a very disturbing and prescient episode.
Watch it before your greedy desires drive you to making any life-changing goals.
Or you may end up like poor and doomed Hector Vain.
