what is the episode that had the best twist ending ?

So, what do you think ? mine was the Grim Reaper

reply

The Incredible Doktor Markesan with Boris Karlov as an actor and Dick York, directed by Robert Florey (originally slated to direct the original 'Frankenstein' and the man who directed my favorite Twilight Zone twist ending 'Perchance to Dream.')

Though non-horror,'The Merriweather File' had a memorable twist.

For horror,'The Devil's Ticket' had a pull-the-rug-out ending that was chilling.

Yup-Devil's Ticket undoubtedly;

I agree with both of these, and I'll add GUILLOTINE.

You gotta start off each day with a song ... even when things go wrong ....

Has to be Masquerade, especially considering the cast.

reply

Cant remember the Title it had Elizabeth Montgomery and Tom Poston in it. They went into a strange house thinking Vampires were a foot .
John Carradine was talking about Vampires adapting to the time and what ever
was going on since they live a long time. At the End Tom and Elizabeth
got in a double Casket .

Yeah, that was Masquerade. And I agree with it.
After all these years is surprised me. I did not see that coming!

To me it has to be the Cheaters. To this day, I avoid looking in mirrors with glasses on!

reply

Speaking of Cheaters - it it was of the best Thriller episodes, IMHO.

SPOILER ALERT!
Though as much as I have watched it - I am never quite sure how to interpret what Harry Townes sees in the mirror after puting the glasses on.

Any thoughts?

The Grim Reaper. Robert Bloch pulled the rug out from under me not once but twice.

reply

Himself,--looking aged and hideous. The message, such as it can be interpreted, appears to be that Townes was a pitiful failure as a man, and also that he asked some wrong questions. It wasn't the most shocking thing on television at the time, but the way it was used made it maybe the biggest shocker of the Thriller series. For me, it's the defining episode of the entire series (not sure I'd call it the best, but maybe the best "signature".

The Grim Reaper, Devils Ticket(that scream at the end is bloodcurdling),The Prediction and The Hungry Glass.

It is my business to protect your majesty.... against all things.

SPOILERS -

Definitely Robert Bloch's THE DEVIL'S TICKET. That final twist really shook me up.

And, with so many celebrities today, bragging of how they sold their souls for Fame and Fortune, this is a very disturbing and prescient episode.

Watch it before your greedy desires drive you to making any life-changing goals.

Or you may end up like poor and doomed Hector Vain.
