Dawn Lyn ("Dodie") has often mentioned the legal battle between ABC and CBS over her because ABC wanted her to play Prudence in "Nanny and the Professor".
What would have happened if ABC had won and Dawn Lyn had been forced to be Prudence in "Nanny and the Professor"?
Do we know who else was auditioned for Dodie?
I've been watching reruns of Nanny and the Professor on Get-TV. I'm glad they hired Kim Richards for the part, as she was not only a much cuter child, but also a better actor. In fact, Kim went on to have a very successful acting career throughout her childhood. Also, by the time they brought Dawn Lyn's character into the My Three Sons show ... the show was obviously tanking. Too many sitcoms - both past and present - make the same mistake - i.e. bringing in a younger child when the original kids mature (i.e. Archie Bunkers Place, Brady Bunch, Partridge Family, Good Times, Family Ties, Growing Pains, etc.).
Oh, and the other thing that bothered me about Dawn's character on the My Three Sons show was the ridiculous name they gave her. Who in the world would name a child "Dodie?"
