I fondly remember those thoughtful teleplays during early Sat/Sun mornings.

Many were on par in quality and depth and other-worldliness to Serling's Twilight Zone.

I agree. I'm not a particularly religious person, but I found that many of the Insight episodes could be enjoyed for the interesting morality plays that they were; very often, religion had nothing to do with it. The show simply helped viewers consider many of the moral dilemmas facing mankind throughout the ages. And I also agree that the quality of the series was on par with The Twilight Zone.

Serling actually wrote one episode, "The Hate Syndrome," about a Hebrew teacher and his former student, an American Nazi party member. It originally aired on January 21, 1968 and starred Jim Begg, Eduard Franz, and Harold Stone. I'd love to see this episode someday...

I remember Patty Duke was in an episode who was married to a good old boy who didn't realize he was alcoholic. She was always covering for him so he wouldn't get fired but finally realizes, with help from Rue McClanahan, she's an enabler. He screws up one too many times and finally realizes he needs help. It was so true to life.
