We'll have a gay old time!

How many think of double entendre's when they hear this in the song. Don't take this as an anti gay remark. People have the right to be what they are. I just wish they had picked a word other than Gay for their community. Gay used to mean happy, festive. As a fan of classic TV and od time radio I hear this word a lot and I always chuckle because of the way the meaning has changed.

As Matt Dillahunty put it, words don't mean ANYTHING intrinsically, they only have USAGES, that we assign to them.

But yeah that's how language works, word usages change over time, and words can have different usages.

Like heterosexual ppl like to use the word STRAIGHT to describe them, but STRAIGHT can also be used to represent many other things, like STRAIGHT line.

Not really. Words have develop different usages. I don't really get a chuckle out of things like that. i just read/watch it as it is intended in the context.
