Does it feel like they made Andy less hickish after season 1?

He seemed like a toal hick in season 1 with hsi drawl and his saying "slicker than a firepole"

"thats a humdinger right there"

anyone feel like they toned it down?

reply

I agree, completely.

reply

Yes.

It seems he started to be more the straight man and let Barney and the rest of the town be the comedy.
I think they made the right decision.

reply

It was a wise decision but I think they still could have had Andy be more Southern and just not a goofy hick. He sort of dropped the drawl and all that

reply

I think they didn't know how people we're going to react to the show.
Griffith was already known for playing the hickish character so they went with that.

There were still a few times when his drawl came out but not often.
Seems continuity was not a main concern of this show.
Different stories, different names and things like that.

I reckon they done gone and done dat. And to be quite frank, I found such a juxtaposition to be oddly identifiable. Not sure why.
