1-13 Mayberry Goes Hollywood

In this episode a Hollywood producer wants to use Mayberry to shoot a movie.
The town goes crazy and and completely changes how it's looks. Including themselves.
They start advertising Hollywood hairdos, Cary Grant haircuts, a Hollywood funeral etc...
They are also ready to cut down the oldest oak tree in the town. Barney is given a uniform
that looks something similar to what a Canadian Mountie would wear.
Andy even calls him Smokey Bear.
When the producer comes back he scolds them for changing the town and themselves.
Andy was the only one who refused to change.

This the first episode where we get to see some familiar faces in the town.

Orville Monroe- Who runs the funeral parlor and TV fix-it shop

Howard McNear as Floyd. Although in this episode his last name is Colby.
As is seen on his sign when he changed it. Colby's Tonsorial Parlor.

Dick Elliot as Mayor Pike.
We also see the Mayor's daughter, Juanita. I'm positive her name is not Juanita in
later episodes. As we know the name Juanita is used as one of Barney's love interests
later on. Josie Lloyd , who plays Juanita goes on to play another character.

Some funny scenes.
At the beginning during the meeting regarding the producer they go back and forth
with each other. The mayor changes his mind on several occasions and then takes
credit for the whole idea.
Andy telling the producer that Floyd used to practice on cats.
"He's not much with people, but he's a great cat barber"
The mayor has his daughter sing Flow Sweetly Sweet Afton. I'm pretty sure we
hear this song again in future episodes.
We also see Andy and Barney both get locked in the cell.
Barney ends up getting locked in the cell 3 times in this episode.

Something else I noticed. The place where the oldest oak tree was. It was in front of
a building that was scene in an earlier episode. I don't remember seeing that tree in that
episode. I will have to investigate this.
In this episode the whole town learns a lesson.

Went back and watched this one. Funny episode, really highlights the fact that Andy is the level headed one in town surrounded by a bunch of eccentrics.
Years later Bob Newhart went on to use a similar theme when he played a psychologist and later an inn keeper in Vermont in his sitcoms.

Barney in his new uniform, LOL, looked like Dudley Do-Right!

How about when Andy told him to relax and he posed by putting his hands on his hips.
Then he told to be serious and he leaned in towards Andy's face. Too funny.

I liked that we got to see so many of the familiar characters.
The scene with Floyd was pretty good.
