1-5 Irresistible Andy

This episode has some extremely funny moments.

Andy asks Ellie to the picnic then talks himself into thinking she is trying to trap him.
This episode has so many funny scenes I can't even list them all.

Andy telling Aunt Bea how he came to asking Ellie to the picnic is classic.
"If I kind of put on a pair of britches with a crease in them "
Andy convincing Barney that he should work so he can't take Ellie to the picnic.
The three guys he convinces that Ellie is interested in her. "There ain't but one way for the
quarry to outfox the hunter , put her on the scent of other game"
The ice cream cone was a down payment on a husband.

Andy and Ellie get into their second disagreement.

Out of the first five episodes this one is by far my favorite.
Talk about cute. Opie comes up to the door carrying flowers for Miss Ellie.
He's wearing his pants, a belt, tucked in shirt and a hat. Absolutely adorable.

It's nice that your reviewing all these episodes. I rarely watch first season episodes, but I watched episode 4 last night and will be watching this one tonight. That Elinor Donahue sure was a looker.

reply

She certainly was.
It's kind of neat to do it this way. It helps me remember the shows and pick up on things I may not have noticed
those many years ago.

Sequentially IS an enjoyable way to watch a series, dewey. This morning I saw both The Return of Barney Fife and The Legend of Barney Fife, back to back. They tied in beautifully.

Both of those color episodes that Barney appears in are quite good and it is fun to see them in order.

A few months back I watched 2 episodes of The Andy Griffith Show and 2 episodes of Gomer Pyle USMC in sequential order:

12/14/64 Episode 4-13
Andy and Helen Have Their Day

12/18/64 Episode 1-13
The Case of the Marine Bandit

12/24/64 Episode 4-14
Three Wishes for Opie

12/25/64 Episode 1-14
Sergeant of the Week

PS I just wanted to say that it's really nice seeing people posting here after IMDB shut down their boards.

One thing that stood out for me was that big, bright blue, beautiful convertible Barney was driving. Nowadays, something like that would be considered a restored classic.

There's a good albeit small group of classic TV lovers here. In time more people will come.
Hopefully doing things like this will help.
I did the same with MASH recently where I watched them all in order. I had almost finished when I joined here.
I don't think I would have had the stamina to do this with MASH.
