Does anyone have the Cook Book?

I have Aunt Bea's Mayberry Cook Book. The cover is the same as the picture here for the Andy Griffith Show.
It has some great recipes!
No turpentine pickles though. LOL!

I don't MissMargo but the way they ate her food I feel maybe I should.

Someone gave the book to me for Christmas many years ago. I have it in the kitchen along with the other cook books. I have only tried a couple of the recipes. Not bad!
My husband looked through it when I got it. He searched and searched for those pickles! That episode is one of our favorites! So funny!

reply

It's a great episode. I'm going through and watching all these episodes again in order.
If you can add anything to these I would consider it an honor.

Maybe It's a good thing the pickle recipe isn't in there.
kerosene cucumbers

THAT was it! Kerosene Cucumbers! It was the jam at the end of the episode that smelled of turpentine!
I love the one where Barney buys the car.
The pilot is a big favorite. Opie is so cute in that. He loves the housekeeper they had, but she left when she got married. Enter, Aunt Bea....
I liked the one where Aunt Bea bought a second hand freezer in order to save money. I can't remember what season that was. It was funny though because Andy rarely ever lost his temper with her. he was exasperated with her in that one.
This was such a great show!
We wake up to that theme song each morning. My phone is our alarm clock. I have the song as our alarm ring tone. What better way to start the day with that cheery whistling tune?

This is one of my top 10 of all time. It is funny and I can still watch it today and laugh the way I did
when I first saw it. Not too many of those shows out there.
I have a great time watching all of these again in order. So many details I didn't remember.

Every few days I have been watching another episode and posting about it.
I have a feeling this show will last until the end of time.
Hopefully the next generation can appreciate it as much as we do.

Hello Miss Margo,

(We seem to like the same TV shows.)

I have recipes in that book (under my old name). I ran a chapter of the Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Club at the time, and my chapter was actually named after a line in "The Pickle Story" episode that was spoken by Barney as he was giving away jars of Aunt Bee's pickles to people from out of town: "Mayberry says thanks and happy motoring."

reply

Hi! You mean that you have a chapter in that cookbook? I must look into this.
There is a chapter that is titled,"Mayberry says thanks and happy motoring."? I never noticed it. I will look it over again! This is great!

reply

No, my chapter of the fan club had that title. The chapters are listed in The Andy Griffith Show Book by Ken Beck & Jim Clark. (Jim was a founder of the organization.)

In the cookbook, I have a couple of recipes.

reply

Oh! I see now. I was a bit confused. That is so cool!

I'm curious to know which recipes are yours. I am retired now and I have just rediscovered the joys of cooking from scratch again. I'd love to try some of you dishes!
