Nasty Helen and the Mayberry Miracle Fat Burner!?!?

In the episode "Dinner at 8", Why was Helen so angry at Andy? She never did confirm a dinner date with Andy, rather she called his house, talked to Goober, and invited Andy through Goober. Andy never committed, nor did Goober even agree on Andy' behalf. And then she has the audacity to accuse Andy of being "indecent" by not showing? She has a lot of nerve! She was the one in the wrong, not Andy.
And why did her uncle, when Andy said that he was on a diet, tell Andy "What you need is more sauce!"? Is sauce some Mayberry miracle fat burner that instantly sheds the pounds away???

Well, plot-wise they needed something or someone to force Andy to eat yet another meal, or there wouldn't be an episode. So they threw Helen to the wolves, which was so easy because La Crump was such a rage-aholic.

In another thread, someone mentioned how certain bits of TAGS dialogue became ingrained in their own family in-jokes. Whenever we had spaghetti, my brother and I would do our best Grumpy Andy and say "Spuh..ghedd..eee."

He should have told her on the phone that he never got the message, as much as I couldn't stand Helen, Andy brought it all on himself. She would have understood, especially who she left the message with.

The easiest thing i have ever had to do was give my heart.

True. I always wondered why he did not tell her the truth to begin with. Still, it gives her no right to assume that he got the message, or even that he agreed to go.

I would have asked him if he got the message. Then again I'm not a shrew.

Because she's always mad at Andy. She gets mad at him consistently.

reply

Andy should have given her a fresh one.

reply

Cause Helen is a bitch. But bad writing is probably the cause in this episode

When you tell people you're trying to lose weight, unless you're really obese, they will usually tell you you're wrong and try to give you more food.
