Emmett, Paul Hartman -- incredible!

I was mildly curious about the character "Emmett" of Emmett's Fixit Shop, so I looked up Paul Hartman on IMDb. His bio is astonishing. Take a look.

He lived quite a life. Interesting that he won the first ever Tony award for a play that he not only starred in, but also wrote.

Check out Susan Oliver's bio... she was the female prisoner that got Andy and Barney all riled up. Talk about an interesting life - she was a Buddhist, baseball expert, award winning pilot whose attempt to be the first woman to fly from New York to Moscow was denied when the Soviets refused to allow her to enter their air space.

While I never really cared for Hartman's role on TAGS, reading his IMDB biography one can see he certainly lived quite a life !!
He directed silent films in Hollywood in the late 1910s.

It's almost like Burt Mustin, an old man who played several roles on TAGS but may be best known as Gus the Fireman on Leave it To Beaver.
He was born in 1884 !!!

Pics of Mustin:

Paul Hartman was also quite an accomplished dancer. I've seen old footage of him when he was a young man getting down and he was awesome for his time. He gave a taste of his skills in the TAGS color episode where Howard gets a swinging bachelor pad. Go Emmett, go!

Emmett literally saved the party.

We would all be better if we danced more.
Not concerned about how we look, just to move our bodies in an unselfconscious way, have some enthusiasm, move around and have fun.
So much more I need to move my shoulders and my body and my neck and be more strong and loose as a person, a corporeal being.
Shake it off, stretch it out, have some fun and giggles. Better than going to the gun range, which seems rigid and unhealthy. Should we be proud of being able to be over-weight and shoot something at five paces away?

Was surprised to see him as the jailer in Inherit the Wind last night. He really had a interesting career and boring, nice Emmett was probably a hoot for him to play.
