Jean-Paul Belmondo is sexy and spirited in this movie! An early Chabrol, but very, very good!

I found his character/mannerisms extremely annoying and unbelievable in the context of the film, but I guess that must be down to Chabrol.

Isn't the point of his behaviour deliberate contempt for bourgeois values and a wish to shake them all up, for their own sakes? Down to Chabrol yes, but an intentional satirical attitude.

I've just seen this on Cinemoi - UK SKY channel 839 - and will look out for a DVD - great movie IMHO.
