Is there an English dub?

Was this ever released on video with an English language track? There doesn't appear to be one on the DVD, but I know of several films that were released on VHS with English dubs that are missing from the DVDs. And before you flame me, I don't mind watching a film with subtitles, but on the TCM broadcast, the small-font white subtitles on top of the black and white film were difficult to read (more often than not, the screen was bright, washing out the words). That, plus this is one of those films that I could watch hundreds of times, and I rarely do that with films that aren't in English....

Unfortunately there is no dub. Even Criterion DVD ( considered a Rolls-Royce of all DVD makers) only has subs for either "Eyes" or "The blood of beasts".

There was an English dub at one time, and it played as "The Horror Chamber of Dr. Faustus" in theaters (on a double-bill with "The Manster") and on TV for years. I last saw it in the late Seventies in that form, so maybe a print in that form will turn up someday.

Actually, the "Blood of the Beasts" doc. HAS an English track, and a French one, on the DVD from Criterion. But, the feature, "Eyes Without a Face", has only the French track.

<<English dub would've taken away from it's authenticity>>

I agree.

Yeah, but it'd be interesting to watch.

reply

Don't worry there's a subtitled version.
