Only Three Actors
This is one of the best movies that I have ever seen with only three actors. Can you name other good movies that have so few actors?

Sleuth [just Olivier and Cain];
Beckett [essentially a two-character tour de force].
Note that almost anything with limited casts like this tend to have theatrical provenance.
"Hell in the Pacific" with only two characters - played by Lee Marvin and Toshiro Mifune.

Definitely one of my favorites with a limited cast. Brilliant acting, story and direction. Enemy Mine was a very blatant rip off of that film.

shareAlthough there are technically more actors in the movie than just the three main characters, "Death and the Maiden" plays as if there were only the three.
- and "The Quiet Earth" of course...
............There is "Dark Star", the first John Carpenter movie with only four characters as unstable planet destroying astronauts. They do have Hal the computer style discussions with the bombs their star ship is carrying so maybe the bombs are characters to...........Also there is the first post apocalyptic movie of them all "Five".
TAG LINE: True genius is a beautiful thing, but ignorance is ugly to the bone.

THE LAST WOMAN ON EARTH is a Roger Corman project from 1960 with a similar plot. Screenwriter Robert Towne- who went on to write CHINATOWN and other major films- also acts in the film, playing the couple's lawyer friend.
The premise is that three people in Puerto Rico are deep sea diving when for some reason the planet loses its oxygen supply. Every living thing dies from the lack of oxygen and the three characters are now the total population of the world.

2LDK, a Japanese movie also has only 2 actors (3 if you count the man on the other side of the telephone).
It was a bet between two directors to make a movie with only 2 actors in one location. Each has made the movie, I forgot the other one for the moment. I think it's a great picture, especially given the tight restrictions.
