Perhaps I am mistaken, but this film seems to necessitate a widescreen release. Judging by the warped / skewed opening title sequence, I would assume the film was severely cropped to fit full-screen...

shareThe DVD that I own is widescreen (2.35:1 aspect ratio).
The film was shot in CinemaScope so you must have seen a "pan and scan" version.
you are so correct. for years i watched this in a pan/scan full screen version. tonight i watched the original widescreen (2.35:1 aspect ratio) on Netflix and was so impressed.
