It is his best western, this is far superior to his role in the overrated(but good) Once Upon a Time in the West.

Are those 2 the only 2 westerns you've seen with Henry Fonda?

He made around 20 western films and most of them were very, very good or better. I just watched THE TIN STAR a few days ago, again, and I marvel at much he does for a movie.

I just looked at my western collection titles starring Henry Fonda. I think I count like 17-18 titles of theater westerns he made. Now if you respect Leonard Maltins ratings (1-4 stars) all but two of Fonda's westerns are at least 3 stars. 3 stars or more by Maltin, to me, is an excellent or better film.

Henry Fonda is always excellent.

Fonda was great in about everything. Two of his other best are "12 Angry Men" and "The Grapes of Wrath."

Although Fonda was great in this ( he always excelled in westerns), Warlock was Widmark's movie all the way. The scene where he explains to Dorothy Malone about killing 37 Mexicans and the pained look on his face spoke volumes. What is interesting about both Fonda and Widmark is they are both underrated when it comes to westerns ( as was Gregory Peck and William Holden). I think the problem is if you made a list of the Top 10 western actors of all time these people fall on it:, John Wayne, James Garner, Clint Eastwood, Gary Cooper, Randolph Scott, Glenn Ford, Joel McCrea, Barbara Stanwyck and James Stewart: There is not enough room for Fonda, Widmark, Peck, and Holden. Personally speaking I would have all four ( along with Wayne, Eastwood, Cooper, Scott, Ford and Stewart).

You folks forgot about The Ox-Bow Incident. A tremendously gripping film, some of Fonda's finest work.
