Was Ollie a SERIAL KILLER??

okay, I remember thinking this the first time I saw the movie.....remember in the beginning when Ollie is talking with the Doc, and he mentions the women killed lived 'down the street' from him, that his brother in law was arrested after they finally 'found' evidence, etc......that plus Ollie doing in his wife, leads me to believe he framed his bro in law for the murders; now, has anybody else thought of that, or am I reading something into it?

I am pretty sure it is not above Mr. Castle to imply it, what do you think?

Reading into it? Yes. But when you see a good movie you always over analyze it.
But then Again, By the time it got to the part of the movie where we find it was ollie who scared his wife to DEATH!!!!, I had totally forgotten about that first scene.
I was to entranced by Vincents acting!!!!
Yeah, I bet that is what it was.
Any who.

I love this movie but something always struck me odd. Ollie is there for his brother-in-law's execution, yet the executed man's sister, Ollie's wife, is at home the same day and quite calm, as if nothing had happened. And what bad taste to bring the man who just did an autopsy on your brother over for coffee?

reply

Good point about the bad taste.
There were a number of plot holes in this pic, how about when the doctor sends Ollie back home with his dead wife and tells him to call a funeral parlor?
Almost as an afterthought he says Ollie might want to call the police too.
There wouldn't be a lot of questions from the police would there? For instance what's with this dead body with the big slice in her back?

reply

Yeah well who else could have done it?
He was after the money.

Always remember one thing in any crime story we almost always meet the killer.
With a few exceptions.

Side note on LAW & ORDER the killer is almost always the first name on the guest cast OR special guest star or AND so & so

My husband's theory on the killer (or thief, or spy, or whatever!)... it is the FACE you know. While you may not know the names of some of the more prolific actors; certain ones do tend to turn up in many shows and often play similar roles. His theory works about 80% to 90% of the time.

It's plausible, but Ollie's confession/rationale to Chapin seems rather naïve for a serial killer ("did I murder her?"--or words to that effect).
