Frank Lloyd Wright???

When Molly visits her dad and his new wife - does Sylvia say the house was build by Frank Lloyd Wright? The house certainly could have been inspired by him - just wondering.

reply

Yes, she says that. My guess is the exteriors were shot at a real FLW house on the Cali coast.

Thanks for verifying! I wasn't paying attention until she said it - I love his houses!

You heard "wright", the house was designed and built by Frank Lloyd Wright in about 1948 or '49 and was said to be one of the architect's favorites. It is called the Clinton (or Della) Walker House and is located on the ocean side of the street in Carmel, California. Wright would have been 80 or 81 when he started putting this house together. It took me some time to find out exactly which house it was because, like you, my ears perked up when I heard, something like, "This house was designed by Mr. Frank Lloyd Wright" when Helen is giving Molly the house tour in this wonderful "soapy-sweet" movie.

House still looks classy & new today. Mr Wright could even make modern stuff look classic.

We go to Carmel a lot and I would love to see the house. Could you tell us where exactly the house is located? Thanks.

It's on Carmel Point, if I googled correctly it's on Scenic Road. It's on my list for my next drive through the area, too!

As I get older I pay more attention to the interesting details, well to me anyway. Oh! That house and location, the jaguar, Molly’s set of Louis Vuitton luggage....woof. And a nice step mother and father. I glad she came around. But, twin beds? Guess the code was still lurking.
