I think this movie is a classic--a masterpiece. All the performances were a little over the top, but then again they were written that way by Tennessee Williams and then adapted for the screen by Gore Vidal, who is no stranger to campy drama.

One of Hepburn's and Taylor's best performances. I would have loved to see Montgomery Clift in his role before his tragic, disfiguring accident in 1956.

Just IMHO.

It did make a difference because his previously mobile expressive face had become wooden, as noted by some of the comments here,as a result of his surgeries.
