Why does the DVD back cover spoil the ending?! (spoilers)

It flat out says "death of her cousin at the hands of cannibals", so when I started reading it I figured it would be revealed early on. NOPE.

Why would they put the main twist of the film on the case?

Haven't seen the DVD case for this particular movie, but I have seen a number of other DVD's in which the main plot is given away on the case. Sweet Land, a favorite movie of mine, is one example. Can't believe they do that. They must hire some flunkie to write those liner notes who has no real sense of the movie.

I don't know. There is an attitude with marketers of any movie older than a few years that everyone knows the plot of the movie, especially movies from the 30s, 40s and 50s. I will say that the concept of spoiling the plot after an initial theatrical release is still fairly new (compared to the history of movies) - about 30 years aka: or the penetration of home VCRs. Movies used to come out and if you didn't see it people would talk about it and tell you the plot, plus there were a ton of film retrospective magazines. I remember reading about the entire plot of Suddenly, Last Summer many times in the 70s and 80s before I finally saw it for the first time when it was released on home video. I also remember my Mom telling me the entire plot of Night of the Living Dead when I was a little kid, I think it was 15 more years before I was finally able to see it!

Thats exactly what happend to me, *beep* who wrote the synopsis.

" Look, there's two women fuc*ing a polar bear "

Because people who put out dvds just don't care. It's for profit. They don't even make the cases easy to open anymore. It's literally just to make a buck.
