Katharine Hepburn seems all wrong for Tennessee Wiliams.

Now I am based in that Tennessee Williams is about as close to an idol as I have, and Katharine Hepburn can do about 3 things very well. TW was full-blooded, warm, sexual, sensual and neurotic and sometimes could write the most delicate, exquisite dialogue. I have always thought that Kate was cold and mostly interested in finding herself fascinating. Her performance here in the role of a Venus fly trap is adequate.

Vivien Leigh would have been eons better than Hepburn. Sigh. Maybe even Geraldine Page could have had a shot at it. Or Agnes Moorehead could have been very interesting.

Now, at the end of the spectrum Joan Crawford or Bette Davis would have single-handedly turned the entire production straight into camp.
