The courtroom

As a lawyer, I usually have a tough time watching courtroom dramas. I am always thinking things like, "That's ridiculous." or "No judge would tolerate that." However, for me the courtroom scenes in "The Story on Page One" are way less objectionable and more enjoyable than usual. Kudos to Mr. Odets and the cast.

I agree. Unlike the great majority of courtroom scenes, the ones in this film feel right. And that's despite the presence of some of the usual inaccuracies -- mainly, having the lawyers standing between the testifying witnesses and the jury. I'm not quite sure what it is that makes this one so believable.

Maybe it's because I've always had a weakness for lost causes, once they're really lost.
