I have been looking for this film for many years and only recently, in March 2011, a clean copy of it, along with English subtitles, has been released by the DEFA Film Library. It could be ordered from them at this link:

Thanks to the previous review I have been able to have the DVD sent to me in France after looking for it for years!!!!
It's a great film, very simple and very moving.
