The DVD: no extras, no Tyrone Power = WASTE

Finally got the new DVD of SOLOMON AND SHEBA and, surprise, surprise, no extras at all -- let alone any footage, stills, or even any printed record of Tyrone Power's original starring role in the film. Just scene and language selections, period. Paging Alpha Video.

Good print, gorgeous Gina, but the bare bones nature of this DVD -- to the point of aridity -- is a real disappointment. Especially since the disc, from the auspices of MGM/UA, is now produced by 20th Century Fox -- Tyrone Power's old studio. What an item they could have had if only they'd invested a little time and effort into producing a disc with some meaningful extras and background stuff on the film this was intended to be, and should have been.

Ordinarily I'd say, wait for a possible 50th anniversary edition -- except that that comes next year, so I guarantee no such release should be expected.

Again, all I can say is, what a wasted opportunity, and what a dull release.
