Who in the heck are Lowell + Medved???

What a bunch of hacks. Randy Lowell (Randy Dreyfuss) has landed with such accredited roles as a muxshroom (talking) and a dog (talking) with of course a liberal sprinkling of no name extra work. This illustrious career of course well prepares him for playing a of doctor role, such as Elliot Fauman, Ph.D. in 1990. This made him the modern equivalent of Dr. Young in the acclaimed "Deep Throat" which was played by none other than Harry Reems. Harry, of course was honest enough to know that he couldn't act, at least not in any speaking type of role :) Then Randy lands a role on Star Trek: Voyager" as Torat in 1998, talk about campy. Randy's only real claim to fame is he co-authored a book in 1978 called "The Fifty Worst Films of All Time (And How They Got That Way)" with Harry Medved, just some other noboby from the 80s. This book represents their subjective nominations for the 50 worst sound films ever made, in alphabetical order. The book features a story synopsis for each film, the authors' opinion of its quality, and reprints a selection of contemporary reviews of the films.

Now Harry Medved joined Sneak Previews in 1984, a weekly movie review show originated by Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert,... Harry Medved co-hosted that program for twelve years with Jeffrey Lyons, another noboby in the 80s. However the basis IMHO is "Whatever recommendations Siskel and Ebert tout or exclaim... Just Do The Opposite." However, I must concede and agree with Ebert on the following point.

"Roger Ebert criticized Medved, saying he is "a political commentator and no longer a film critic." [Ebert, Roger (2005-01-29). "Critics have no right to play spoiler". Chicago Sun-Times.]"

An autobiographical book by Medved in 2005, Right Turns: "From Liberal Activist to Conservative Champion in 35 Unconventional Lessons", Medved says he welcomed the chance to escape "the movie ghetto" and to speak to a wider audience about politics and morality, which were the focus of his written commentaries and books. For much more insightful references about Harry Medved's movie ilk (reviews) go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Medved#Movie_reviews

IMHO these points alone should caution YOU, the audience as to the ilk of Randy & Harry's experience and claims. This movie is an absolute classic from a bygone era (1959) when either these 2 boneheads were barely out of the womb.

So lets see here, We have this "Leftwinger" who's swung way toward the "Right", political activist turned critic, plus this no talent hack of an actor writing a piece called "The Fifty Worst Films of All Time (And How They Got That Way)" which is about what was either "good" or "bad" in the movies... and of which a good portion they were both still in diapers. So I think you see the bigger picture here and give this classic a try... "Judge for yourself." And as for my answer to "Who in the heck are Lowell & Medved??? Well, I believe they are just inconsequential nobodys.

Dislike what UR viewing _what UR hearing _whatever's happening! U could go elsewhere or turn it off

Medved always thought more of himself than the rest of mankind. Specially after he lost all that weight!

I think you've got some serious untangling to do. You've confused Harry Medved with his brother Michael throughout most of your post, including Ebert's typically political point about Medved's (that's Michael, not Harry) political history. {I don't think poor ol' Harry's even got a Wikipedia entry.)

The OP is correct in saying Harry Medved was involved in the editing of the book, though he does appear to have forgotten about brother Michael's contribution.

The book represents subjective choices for the 50 worst sound films ever made and despite the flaws that many of these films may well have had, a number of them, including S & S were commercial successes, which IMO always tends to somewhat dampen the critics' arguments.🐭
