Sleeping Beauty is a well known Disney movie, and they are actually the main characters.
But when you look at the merch they sell, Its all Aurora, PINK Aurora!
(And a bit of Maleficent)
Once I bought a plush Merryweather doll. I though I have to buy this cause I knew its rare.
But its not only merch they hardly show up in anything.
It really was a surprise for me when I saw them in Sofia the first.
I 100% agree!! They never get the attention they deserve. It's a shame this movie gets slammed by feminists. They never take into account that the fairies are really the heroes in that movie. Without Flora, Fauna, & Merryweather, Maleficent would have easily killed Prince Phillip. I think the reason why they largely get ignored is because they're elder women. Society values youth. A lot of people are ageist.

In my opinion had the film just focus on those three more instead of the fairies. Sleeping Beauty would be among the best maybe even the best ever disney animated films. But since the reverse happened I think Sleeping Beauty as a film falls short of that.

Its the same opinion i have with one of the infamous Star Wars Prequels. The Phantom Menace is the only Star Wars Prequel film I admit I enjoy. Becuase it had a great villain Darth Maul, actions scenes abd effects were entertaining and the main characters were decent. But the biggest flaw in the film is Jar Jar Binks who like the fairies get a bunch of screen time and was annoying and boring. Despite that I still enjoyed the film. So there. share
