hey! like many others, I remember having seen the film on TV as a kid...if I watched it today one day, I am sure, there'd be loads and loads of memories coming back.

however, much is blurred
- i remember the witch having black long hair, somewhat sharp teeth and turning into a frightening swarm of bats at one point
- at another point, the witch is coming out of a bath and is being combed by servants or something wearing a kimono (god this witch was so scary or I was so small or both ... can't tell anymore)
- sasuke always ate a weird potato-like vegetable or dish that seems o be originally japanese (chihiro eats something like that in spirited away as well)
- the magician made sasuke carry buckets of water all the tim, before he told him how to use magic and really made fun of sasukes efforts

i don't remember what the which was actually after or why and how sasuke approached the magician in the first place. Furthermore, I do not know what happened to the magician ( I think he simply stood behind on his mountain when sasuke left?) or what the plot actualy was ;-)

any help would be appreciated.

didn't the witch turn into a salamander in the end, when they were fighting??
i think she did, i remember being really scared! lol.

and didn't sasuke have some weird amimal sort of friends??

ye i cant remember why the witch was after him either.

The witch becomes a salamander at the beginning of the film. She becomes a seleton at the end. You can get Magic Boy from showa video.

I saw this as a child and remember 2 things which scared me.. a dark shape under the water grabbing the fawn and the witch's death, turning into a skeleton with long grey hair.

I really want to see it again.

I saw this in the theater. I think it was a holiday treat. My dad took my brother and me. Come to think of it, it it may have been the first movie I saw in a theater. After all these years all I remember is a chorus singing the words "Magic Boooooyyy." I also remember Magic Boy having to carry more and more buckets of water up a mountain as part of his training.
