Does any body know anything about Ben Carruthers?

All I know about Ben Carruthers is that he died in 1983 or around that time due to Liver problems.
Also he had worked with Bob Dylan on a record single.

He really was memorable as Joe Surefoot the psychotic half caste Indian in the 1969 movie Riot.

I am very curious about him and could never find out much about him, myself.
