Shadows (The original 1957 version) is better

John himself said that he liked the first version fine. He said that he would "LOVE" for the first version to be found and shown. He would have done so himself if he knew where to find a copy.

If anyone "owns" the first (real) edition of the film, he must respect John's wishes.

Gena Rowlands & Al Ruban are dirty, filthy, money-grubbing, propaganda-slinging, bad-hearted codfish.

They are trying to suppress the truth. Who does that?

Yeah, it's a shame. Ruban and Rowland's have no business suppressing art, and it's clear that it has to do with their loathing of Ray Carney, who is in possession of the longer early cuts of SHADOWS and FACES. They're behaving like children.
