Space suit tear

When the crewman tore his spacesuit, why didn't he go back to the vehicle they came in from the ship? They weren't in a vacuum, so all the air would not have been sucked out of his suit and they had their helmets off while driving, so he could have survived in the vehicle until the other crewman came back.

Well for one thing Venus has a poison atmosphere and I don't know how far from the vehicle he was so depending on that would he have made it back to vehicle before being poisoned by the atmosphere.
