Where can you buy this movie

I've looked online, and can't seem to find it... does anybody know?

reply

You can't. It hasn't been released to video or DVD as yet.

reply

It may not be out on dvd/vhs, but TCM Europe is showing it frequently, so if you`ve got a dvd/vhs recorder you should be able to get a decent copy.

OUT ON DVD SINCE JUNE 15 2012!
I have not purchased the DVD, though.

Good, I'm reading the book right now. The first few chapters seam to be a drag but knowing du Maurier the tension, mystery and suspense is going to ramp up as the story continues. She was a master at her craft.

Good to know, dgranger. Du Maurier was indeed a master in narrative and suspense. Let us know how it develops!

Have I seen your photo profile in TCM´s message boards or only here?

reply

I'm basically here. Not Turner Classic Movies board ( I hope that is what TCM means).
Just finished reading the book. It went just as I thought it would with the slow setting up of characters and then take off. Boy Bette Davis's part was written for her. She is exactly the same way in the book except she takes morphine to sleep. You will get a shock in chapter ten as it is one they wouldn't dare try to film back in 1957. Ten year old Marie-Noel tries to self flagulation as penitence for a sin she thinks she has committed. John stops her. Yes, Marie Noel, not Blanche.
