When Robert Peary made one of his voyages to reach the North Pole in the early 1900s he and a member of the expedition accepted the hospitality of their Eskimo hosts including having sexual relations with Eskimo women. Both Peary and his right-hand man, Matthew Henson, each fathered a son.
