i caught this one afternoon on BBC and was quite shocked how in your face an anit racist movie it was for its time
and it was a great little curio with regards to the slang used by the immigrant characters
though i didnt buy that a half cast girl would pass as white back then

It was released by Magna Pacific in Australia in their Rank Classics collection on PAL Region 4 (you'll need an all-region player to watch it)

I recently bought it - available from both Amazon and movie mail - as one in a great box set called 'Great British movies - Film Noir'for around £15. Others include an excelent 'So long at the fair, Turn the key softly, 21 days and hunted.
OK, it is well stretching the Film Noir tag, all of them, Sapphire especialy, but a good selection.

The outer box & the DVD cover both say that the Aspect Ratio is 2.35.1. It is not. It is 4.3, also the Eastman Color is faded.
