IMDB has the release date as 59, its US release, but many British books and websites have it listed as 58. This makes sense to me as it featured in the 59 BAFTA awards for films released in 58. Does anyone know if was it released in Britain in 58, and so should be listed as a 58 movie? (It's a personal favourite)

shareI just watched this at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall last night (it was supposed to be A Room with a View, and the distributors sent Room at the Top by mistake!); it was a very old print that even had the X certificate before the titles; I'm pretty sure the date was marked MCMLVIII - 1958.

For what it is worth at this length of time from the OP, Room at the Top had its UK premiere on January 22nd 1959 at the Plaza Theatre, Lower Regent Street, London. It went on general release in the UK from April 12th 1959 on the ABC circuit.
