Well for 99% of this western, Ben Brigade does anything but...ride lonesome. Like Josey Wales does in The Outlaw Josey Wales, Brigade keeps collecting others to ride with him, after initially taking Billy into custody.

Yes we suspect that he'll ride off lonesome after burning the Hanging Tree, but for the most part it was more like Ride With Plenty of Company.

Don't confuse "lonesome" with "alone". It is definitely possible to be lonesome even when surrounded by other people. Haunted by his wife's death, Brigade has probably been lonesome ever since.
