Is Antoine autistic?

Just wondering, cuz that would explain some of his behaviour.

reply

He's not. I have to say that his behavior seems pretty normal given his age and his f'ed up family life. Nobody really seems to genuienly care about him. The sequels do prove that he definitely has commitment and growing up issues, though as an adult.

Yeah I don't get the comparison to Autism. I did quite a lot of similar things when I was 12, particularly the scenes in the classroom and attempts at different schemes. My parents weren't dysfunctional at all either. It was all me. A regular boy can get into trouble without a medical condition as an excuse you know.

I would say a guidance problem. On one hand it is too severe and the other was a total lack. Also adding in that he had knowledge that his mother did not want him and wanted to abort him. It doesn’t surprise me the way he was.

reply

No, he was pretty cool, actually. And Leaud definitely gives one of the best performances of any pre-teen ever. Perhaps THE best; it´s amazing how natural he seems in front of the camera.

reply

No. It's a bug bear of mine to find people trying to understand a person through a diagnostic category. Antoine was a young lad with healthy responses that were being beaten at every opportunity by adulthood.

Antoine's "problems" didn't require a psychological diagnosis. The adults in the film are shown to have faults of their own, but of course such people are disposed to perceive problems in others instead of understanding their own. There was nothing abnormal about Antoine.

God! People like you suck! You ruin message boards with stupid or ignorant statements, it is unjust for you to post judgements of anyone when you are the problem and perhaps the autistic one, cuz that would explain your behavior, boring.

reply

he may have what is now diagnosed as adhd or something....he tells his mom he can't concentrate in school. but autism? no.

reply

I don't think he was autistic. His odd, erratic behavior was caused by his wretched home life.

reply

he's a parisian.
