Porgy and Bess in TODD-AO 70mm at AFI SIlver Spring, MD


As part of its 70mm Spectacular film series, the AFI (American Film Institute) Silver Theater in Silver Spring, MD (next door to Washington) is screeing, in 70mm TODD-AO, "Porgy and Bess," compelte and uncut. I have read on an internet website the film is being borrowed from a private collector for this event, and the print runs to a pinkish tint. This is unconfirmed. I know AFI tries to show the best available print. More can be found here:

I hope the Gershwin estate didn't gain wind of this showing they would have thrown a hissy. But glad it was shown, brilliant film that needs to be released on home video so people can have the chance to see it.

It wasn't shown. The Goldwyn Estate stopped it.
