IMDb technical specs wrong?

The Criterion website lists this film as having an "original aspect ratio" of 1.33:1 (full frame presentation on TV screens). IMDb lists the film at 1.66:1. Looking at the film broadcast on IFC (which I assume is the same presentation as the Criterion dvd), the ratio is indeed 1.33:1, but I COULD see it being 1.66:1 as some scenes looked a bit crowded on the left and right sides of the screen on the 1.33:1 presentation.

I wouldn't expect Criterion to get this wrong, can anyone clear up the discrepancy?

I just watched this film last night at the LA County Museum of Art as part of their Janus Films programme, and it was a widescreen presentation, 1.66:1, I would say. As a matter of fact, it was the second part of a double feature - the first part was The Seventh Seal, which was a 1.33:1, and when they started Black Orpheus, they quickly had to open the curtains wider to accomodate the wider scope.

Criterion's Blu-ray is 1.33:1.
