B&W tones change between scenes

This film is another example of some B&W movies where the "grayscale", tint, contrast, or whatever you call it, seems to change between shots noticeably. One example is when Graham goes to Ryan's apartment, sets her drink down and turns around.

I know about Wise's use of infrared in some shots - that's noticable, too. But, it's as if they shot scenes using different B&W film stock, or processed it at a different lab. It's just really noticeable in this film. Does anyone know the reason or cause? Or is it just my TV?
