locomotive

In all the reviews of this film I have never heard the locomotive mentioned. A Johnson tank of the type which saw a great deal of service on the Midland Railway. Exported throughout the free world it was natural that a specimen would appear in this part of the Empire during the Edwardian Era.
Driver Gupta (Indra Sen Johar) does accurately describe the distances this locomotive can travel early in the film but because he is an Indian no one pays him much heed.
Driver Gupta and his locomotive are the only credible characters in this film.

I love the romance of steam and the loco details that I. S. Johar gives are fine. He does a very good job of portraying a loco man.

Except for that pesky whistle which seemed to go off at all the wrong times.

The authoritative "Railways of the Screen" by John Huntley says its a Beyer Peacock engine.
