No mention of the atomic bomb?

The Soviet attack took place days after Hiroshima. Perhaps the news wasn't told to the Manchurian troops. Seems ridiculous that the troops believe in victory in the summer of 1945 when it should be obvious the war's lost. I suppose the propaganda and the fact that the Japanese over rate themselves made them not want to admit to defeat until it happened.
