Fredric March

I just watched this again tonight--what great acting by all involved! Fredric March gave an incredibly poignant and touching performance in this film; I can't believe he wasn't nominated for an Oscar. He should have won.

I like to think of them living happily ever after...

He was maybe the greatest American actor of all time. Definately the most versatile.

I'm not sure even he thought that? He was supposed to be in his 50's and looked 20 years older. Maybe if he was lucky he could have enjoyed himself with a fabulous Kim for a few months.
After that his doubts --about several issues--come back and you getg the picture.....

Sorry for the pesimistic outlook but the guy's behavior sort of overwhelmes the strong feelings and good intentions he may have had.

I SO agree one of our most important actors.

I told you a million times not to talk to me when I'm doing my lashes!

I couldn't agree with you more! He totally became the character he was portraying, too. He was Jewish without overdoing it. Fredric March was an actor in the truest sense of the word.

The fact that he wasn't nominated in the year that Charlton Heston won for "Ben-Hur" (another non-Jew playing a Jew, by the way) just shows how silly the Oscars (and all awards) are. March was infinitely better than Heston. Of course, he had already won two Oscars. It's not as if he had been overlooked.
