The Chimney House

While we were watching the movie on TCM, we recognized The Chimney House as it's called in the movie. It's located in Woodstock, CT and is actually known as Roseland Cotage (or the Pink House) since it's painted a salmon pink, has a wonderful garden and a barn with one of the first private bowling alleys. It was built in 1840 or 1846 by Henry Chandler Bowen and is still open for tours from June through October 15th. The building is owned by a group called Historic New England.

A color close up of the house and you can see why it is called the Pink House.

The Cottage House (formerly Vernon Styles Inn) in Thompson, CT, where I live, was also shown in this movie.

How dull.

Nothing is more beautiful than nothing.

Hazel,

Thank you so very much for sharing this with us.
For years and years I have checked the imdb, hoping they would at least disclose where exactly in CT this has been filmed, but until this day they only list CT as the location.
I'm so glad I discovered this Man in the Net discussion!

Do you know by any chance where the cave scenes have been filmed? And where the Ladd character's farm/house in the movie is located?

I will put Roseland Cottage on my wish list of trips...

Thanks!
