Under-rated

It's a shame that "L'il Aber" Isn't more well known. I first saw it years ago when it was screen on terrestrial tv over her in the UK. I purchased it on DVD just a few years ago and had to order from the US as It's unavailable here in the UK(thank god for the inter-net). It's a pretty good film with infectious, colourful characters. Catchy songs(I particularly like "Jubilatiln T. Cornpoln" and "The country's in the very best of Hands") and a good cast of fairly unknown(with the possible exceptions of Stubby Kaye and Stella Stevens)yet talented actor and great humour much of which is subversive and satirical. Some of the humour is also pretty near the knuckle for 1959.

It's not a brilliant film but still deserves to get more recognition than it receives.

Gen. Bullmoose: Appasionata, you should have been here an hour ago! Why are you so late?
Appassionata Von Climax: I had to make up.
Gen. Bullmoose: Your face?
Appassionata Von Climax: No, with the chauffeur... we had a fight!
Gen. Bullmoose: [to his cronies] Remind me to fire that chauffeur!
