Fun in Hi-Def

I just saw this movie again after not seeing it since I was a kid, around 1965. In color its fun to view, and I saw in in HD, which made the set just dazzle. I was delighted to see some of the bit actors who I recognized as being later-famous. Jerry Lewis made an appearance, and he wasn't even credited in the movie. The same for Valerie Harper, and an 18 yr old Beth Howland, who later played Vera, the dim-witted waitress on TV's "Alice". For a bit of trivia: Kickapoo Joy Juice was a lemon-lime soft drink that was marketed in the 1960s (at least in Chicagoland). I don't think it lasted too many years.

My family watched Li'l Abner every time it was on when I was a kid....always loved the songs.Gotta look for Harper and Howland.I'm sure Jerry Lewis was doing someone a favor ,as he was a star by the late 50's.I'd managed to tape it at some point, but did snap up a Walmart special myself. What a display of 50's style bombshells! The gals in those days didn't mind polishing off a plate of meat'n'taters every now and then....ah,the good old days..

Donna Douglas (Elly Mae on the Beverly Hillbillies) also was in it.

I totally agree. I rented it from Netflix, played it on my new BlueRay player/HD monitor and it was amazing. The brilliance of the colors, the sets, etc. added so much to make this a totally enjoyable experience.....literally a cartoon coming to life.

You must be pretty awesome. It's not available on Netflix.

"You must be pretty awesome. It's not available on Netflix."
Not sure what you mean by that ("you must be awesome"), but it comes across as if you're challenging me on my comments.

Just because it isn't available right now on Netflix doesn't mean it wasn't available at some point. Netflix constantly removes movies and/or the type available. In fact "Li'l Abner" is currently in a "SAVE" mode there, meaning it will become available at some point.

If that isn't enough for you: It's great that Netflix keeps track of everything I've rented from them...going back all the way to 2004 and it shows that I rented "Li'l Abner" on 2/10/2009 and returned it on 2/13/2009.

You've done some bad things, sweetie.

I'd love to now have it on Blu-Ray with some extra featured and commentary.
